A handkerchief from the Skrypnykivka collection
The Skrypnykivka collection tells about the language and the importance of preserving it.
It is about the heyday of all things Ukrainian, when linguists from all over the country created a spelling system and preserved the specific features of the Ukrainian language. Later, this spelling, the “skrypnykivka,” was banned by the Soviet government. It erased the real Ukrainian language from memory and use.
On the scarf from the collection, we depicted book covers.
Look closely: you will see parts of “skrypnykivka” in their titles. We are convinced that we must revive and use the spelling created to unite. Pay attention to the books themselves and their authors: all of them were active figures in the Ukrainian revival of the 1928s, and their works showed that Ukrainian literature could be modern and even create a world canon.
Complement your summer outfits with a scarf and talk about the value of the native Ukrainian language.
The collection was created with the support of the Kharkiv Literary Museum and the research work of byMe.
